100 Minutes, 1W, 1M

One existential crisis, or epiphany as he prefers, later, Gabriel has decided to undergo a very secretive procedure to fix all the mistakes he’s made in his life. The first step? Going back to his roots and digging a large hole in the middle of his childhood home’s front lawn. The plan is perfect. While his parents are away on vacation, a trip he knows is true if their Facebook status is any indication, the house will be empty, meaning there will be no one to question him too harshly about what he’s doing. Unfortunately for him, things have changed in the ten years he’s not returned home — something he realizes when he reunites with Adelina, his old neighbor and best friend.

The Tamalada

20 Minutes, 3W, 2M

Masa? Check. Lard? Check. Chile? Chile? CHECK THE CHILE. In a discrete and, in many other ways, blatant attempt to reunite the family after her sister’s estrangement two year prior, Aracelis rushes to finish the preparations for her family’s tamalada — a previously annual Christmas tradition passed down from her abuela. She just hopes this doesn’t blow up in her face — metaphorically and physically.
