Every story is a love story.
Take a look at a couple of mine.
Maya De La Torre is a classically trained actor, singer, and playwright based in Los Angeles, California.
Most recently she performed with the Full Circle Players during their summer Shakespeare in the Park tour, as Miranda in The Tempest and Iztaccíhuatl in La Mujer Dormida, a new work inspired by the Aztec legend of Iztaccíhuatl and Popocatépetl. It was not only a joy to work again in the great outdoors, but it was truly an enriching experience to share both stories, the latter being one so influential in her Mexican culture.
Prior to her time in tour, she earned her Master of Arts degree in Classical Acting from the London Academy of Music & Dramatic Art (LAMDA), where she studied various techniques and eras of theatre, specializing in Shakespeare’s works. She credits her time abroad as one of the most formative years in her life, both as an artist and as a person.
She spent the fall of 2021, after having graduated with both a Musical Theatre and an English degree, at The National Theatre Institute in the Eugene O’Neill Theatre Center, where she was selected for the Lin Manuel Miranda Family Fellowship, an honor awarded to exemplary artists of color.
In all that she does, love, joy, and playfullnes lie in the heart of her process.
